Working it out

I "finished" building my site today. It didn't take long which is thanks to Squarespace. But I tried a few different things and settled on what I like. Something simple and easy to maintain but that still has an elegance to it.

I wanted to be able to post photos as well as words so I created a second page called Lens where I'll post galleries of photos I've taken. I'll be adding new and old as time goes on. But I'm happy with how things look and behave for now.

I also went ahead and added a Donate button so that if anyone finds this site they can help me pay for hosting or pay me what they think using one of my photos is worth. But all in all this site is for me and I don't expect to do anything but put money and time into it. And I'm super happy to do so.

The main thing I worked out today is that I'm not going to tell anyone about the site. Not yet. Once I have a few months in then I'll say something but not before. And even once I do that I'm not looking at any metrics for another six months after that.

I'm happy with what I've got and am looking forward to what I make.

Let there be (a [web])site

On the first day the man was depressed and wanted to share his thoughts, ideas, and feelings but had no one to tell. So the man decided to create a website where he can voice all of those things. And it won't matter if anyone reads it or no one does because the man early on decided to not look at the metrics for the site.

What he thought he was so clever in doing is naming the site with a reference to  Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Wouldn't want to spoil the movie if you haven't seen it so you'll either know, figure it out or decide you don't care enough to watch the movie or read the book.
